Every saga needs a heartbeat, and in Dreamer Books: An Ice Age Saga, that pulse comes from three men whose lives intertwine across frozen landscapes, ancient forests, and the timeless rhythms of survival and discovery. Though each comes from a different thread of humanity, together they shape a tale of resilience, curiosity, and the bonds that can form even in a world carved by ice and scarcity.

Tris is the soul and voice of the story. At the beginning, he is young Neanderthal man, and he is standing at the threshold between youth and adulthood, shouldering the weight of tradition while reaching toward something more. Through his eyes, we follow the contours of a life lived close to the land as he matures, where taking a mate, embarking on a hunt, surviving another winter, and every unexpected encounter becomes a turning point. Tris is thoughtful, observant, and introspective; he may not speak loudly, but his reflections resound across the pages. It is his hopes, dreams, fears, and triumphs that guide readers through the saga’s emotional terrain.

At Tris’s side, often stands his father, Tor. Where Tris searches for meaning, Tor embodies stability. Quiet, steady, and deeply wise in the ways of their people, he is both mentor and companion, shaping Tris not with lectures but with example. Tor is the kind of hunter whose presence alone steadies the hand. His humor is dry and understated, the sort of remark that lands a moment later. Tor’s calm strength serves as the grounding force of the narrative, and while he doesn’t seek the spotlight, he becomes unforgettable precisely because of his restraint.

And then there is Black Wolf. If Tor is earth and Tris is wind, Black Wolf is fire—loud, warm, unpredictable, and endlessly entertaining. A massive Homo sapiens man from a clan of the People of the East, he seems to command a room even when the “room” is a windswept plain. He wears his hair in a series of stiff braids, a thick pelt of fur on his body, and owns a booming Basso Profundo voice that bursts into song when they are on the trail. Where Tris broods and Tor listens, Black Wolf laughs, shouts, sings, and occasionally startles the wildlife (and other people). Yet beneath the humor lies fierce loyalty. He joins Tris and Tor on journeys that test endurance, skill, and trust, and his exuberance often lightens even the harshest trek. His presence becomes a bridge between species, cultures, and worldviews—proof that friendship can thrive even when the ancestors might not have expected it.
Together, Tris, Tor, and Black Wolf create a dynamic that is richer than any could achieve alone. Their adventures weave together strength and vulnerability, tradition and innovation, solemnity and humor. In an Ice Age world where survival depends on cooperation as much as skill, their bond becomes the quiet miracle at the center of the saga. Through them, Dreamer Books invites readers to walk beside two branches of humanity and discover that courage, love, and friendship are as old as our shared past.

Bringing Dreamer Books: An Ice Age Saga to life has been an adventure in every sense — hours of writing, recording, and sketching to share the Ice Age world of Tris, Tor, and Black Wolf.
